  1. One of the peoms i am choosing for my anthology is "Man of the year" by Robin Becker.I chose this poem because it talks about a hard working dad who is talking to his son and giving him good advice about his life and past experiences. When i read this peom it made me think of my dad who has done everything he can to keep our family happy. I can relate myself to this poem that's why it l be easier for me to write about it in my anthology.

  3. The poem that I will be using for my anthology is "A Poison Tree" by William Blake. I liked this poem because I understood it very well and I liked how William Blake writes. In the poem, he explains that when you're angry with a friend, you tell them what's wrong and then everythings okay. When you're angry with a enemy, you boil it inside you until you can't take it any longer.

by Robert Herrick. I chose this poem because it describes the love I feel. My love may not be as drastic but I'd do anything for someone I love. I feel a relation to this poem, it was to the point and easy to interpret.

I Measure every Grief I meet by Emily Dickinson
I chose this poem because it brings out the justification within the range of my anthology. It’s how all this pain, and misery can only make you stronger, a live and learn lesson. The title says it all meaning that she keeps track of all the suffering, pain, stress etc. In her poem Emily’s grief has been going on for so long she doesn’t know when it began. She wonders after all these harmful years is there any balm, meaning cure. Emily knows she doesn’t stand alone; many people are out there in a similar situation. Everyone suffers in various ways, grief of want and grief of cold it doesn’t matter which one because how God suffered and sacrificed himself. I’m still fascinated to presume that some are like my own.

I picked the poem, "The Instruction Manual" because I feel that it relates to many people in today's society. This poem does not make you ponder what the writer in meaning, it is straight forward and I like that about this poem. It talks about how he envy's the other people for having freedom and not being trapped in an office all day.

  11. "Dawn Dreams" is the poem I chose. The writer extends the simple task of remembering dreams through metaphors to further describe the action or reaction that happens when trying retrace them; it grabs a simple concept/subject and goes in depth metaphorically and descriptively and that's something I like in poetry.

  13. I chose the poem "How Do I Love Thee? (Sonnet 43)" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. I first read this poem in high school and absolutely fell in love with it. I really enjoy literature that are true stories are based off of a persons life and Elizabeth Barrett Browning's poems were about the love she had for her husband. This specific poem is my favorite because of how pure and unconditional her love is that she has for her spouse

  16. I chose "The Look" by Sara Teasdale, I chose tis poem because it was very simple and to the point. I also chose it because in a way it is very unfortunate that the words even though there were few, were very true in my opinion. Not very many people can meet someone and be interested in them without acting upon physical attraction to one another, but in this poem they prove otherwise. She states that "the kiss in Colin's eyes
Haunts me night and day," which means that she had a bigger appreciation for him due to the fact that they did kiss but only looked at each other

  19. I chose the poem "In Memoriam" by Lord Alfred Tennyson. I chose this poem because it reminded me of grandpa when he passed away. It reminded me of him in a positive way and thats not easy to do since it was such a traumatic time for me and my family. I liked how the poem repetitively stated "ring out" kinda meaning to let it or to let him go and he is going to be ok.

  20. I chose the pome "Lift Every Voice and Sing" by James Weldon Johnson. My reasoning for choosing this pome is it allows me to see no matter what situation someone is in you can be happy and say or "sing" what you are feeling. This poem gives off a very positive and powerful message. It motivates me to be positive no matter what the situation is. It also talks about shows discipline and it's very up lifting.

  24. I chose to use, "The Elephant is Slow to Mate" by D. H. Lawrence. I thought this poem was pretty weird while searching through the site but after reading it a few time I thought about just how great it really was; how old and wise elephants are, and how much they could actually teach about love, monogamy and commitment.

  26. The poem I chose is "The Secret" by Denise Levertov. The reason why I chose this poem was because it was easy to understand and the point the writer was trying to make is true. The point the writer was trying to make was that throughout life we go through a lot of information and secrets. The important secrets are the only ones we remember. We go through life not remembering secrets that aren’t important, but when we come across something that is related to the secret we remember.

  27. I picked "Learning to Speak" by Liz Rosenberg because to shows how peace and quiet and be so calming rather then noisy atmospheres. She uses metaphores and similies with in the poem. What i caught kind of strange is that the only words the daughter said was to "siddown" at the end to her mother. and the mother responded to her wishes without any argument. Kind of shows who has power in the house or maybe theres something wrong with the daughter.
